CONSONANTS SOUNDS



ARTICULATION WAY

Manner: It means how the sounds are pronounced, and the way in which the air is modified when it pass through the vocal tract. So the consonants can be stop, Fricative, Affricative, Nasal, Liquid and glide.




ARTICULATION POINT


Place: It means which articulators are involved in the production of consonants sounds. These articulators are: bilabial, labio-dental, lingua-dental, lingua alveolar, lingua- palatal, lingua-velar and glottal. (Lips, teeth and lingua).





WHICH ARE VOICED AND VOICELESS?

Voicing: It means when the vocal folds vibrate during a production of some consonants or don't vibrate in some cases.

Voiced: when the sound is produced with the vocal folds vibration in the larynx.

Voiceless: when the consonant is produced without vibration of the vocal folds.
